Irrigation & Watering Timer
Your Setup
Most lawns need 1–1.5 inches per week including rainfall.
Loam is the gold standard for lawns — it absorbs water well, drains excess, and holds enough moisture for roots. You can water in a single session without runoff concerns.

💧 Water early morning (4–8 AM) to reduce evaporation and fungal disease risk.
🌱 Deep, infrequent watering trains roots to grow deeper, making your lawn more drought-tolerant over time.
🌧️ Subtract rainfall from your weekly target. Use a rain gauge or weather app to track.
Catch-Can Test
Place 4–6 straight-sided cans (tuna cans work great) around your lawn. Run the sprinkler for 15 minutes. Measure the water depth in each can, average them, and multiply by 4 to get your inches/hour rate.
Check Your Depth
After watering, push a screwdriver into the soil. It should slide in easily to 6 inches. If it stops short, you need to water longer. If it goes too deep, cut back.
