Horizontal Stripes

Easy

Classic, clean look running across the width of your lawn. Best for making narrow lawns appear wider.

How to Achieve This Pattern
  1. 1Start on one edge of your lawn and mow in a straight line to the opposite edge.
  2. 2At the end, turn around and mow back in the adjacent row.
  3. 3Keep rows tight — no gaps between passes.
  4. 4Use a fixed object (fence, sidewalk) as your guide line.
  5. 5The roller behind your mower blade bends grass in opposite directions for each pass — that creates the stripe effect.

Best Results

Stripes show best on dense, cool-season grasses like Kentucky Bluegrass and Perennial Ryegrass. Mow at 3-3.5 inches for maximum definition.

Rotate Weekly

Change your mowing direction every 1-2 weeks. This prevents grass from permanently leaning in one direction and promotes healthier, more upright growth.
