Horizontal Stripes
EasyClassic, clean look running across the width of your lawn. Best for making narrow lawns appear wider.
How to Achieve This Pattern
- 1Start on one edge of your lawn and mow in a straight line to the opposite edge.
- 2At the end, turn around and mow back in the adjacent row.
- 3Keep rows tight — no gaps between passes.
- 4Use a fixed object (fence, sidewalk) as your guide line.
- 5The roller behind your mower blade bends grass in opposite directions for each pass — that creates the stripe effect.

Stripes show best on dense, cool-season grasses like Kentucky Bluegrass and Perennial Ryegrass. Mow at 3-3.5 inches for maximum definition.
Rotate Weekly
Change your mowing direction every 1-2 weeks. This prevents grass from permanently leaning in one direction and promotes healthier, more upright growth.
